Morocco remains the first fruit and veg supplier to Spain

From January to April 2022, Spain imported fresh fruit and vegetables from Morocco for 469 million euros, which is 11% more than in the same period of 2021, and which makes Morocco the first supplier country of Spanish market, according to data from the Department of Customs and Special taxes.
The presence of Moroccan products in the Spanish market has been growing in recent years. For example, in 2017, the value of imports in the same period totaled 304 million euros.
The second importer of fruit and vegetable products for Spain is France, with 119 million euros, 6% more than in 2021. In third position is Peru, with 100 million euros and 9% less.
Other supplying countries are Portugal, Costa Rica and the Netherlands.
From January to April of this year, purchases of fresh fruit and vegetables from Portugal increased by 8% and reached 70 million euros; those from Costa Rica totaled 65 million euros (+7%) and from the Netherlands, 60 million euros (+4%).
