Record pineapple production

Costa Rica has become the world' s largest pineapple producer. In 2001, the country exported 360 000 tons of fruit and it represents an important fresh fruit sourcing place for Del Monte and 48 other foreign marketers. The Ivory Coast is the second largest exporter after Costa Rica, followed by the Philippines.
