The Royal Wedding has increased demand for potatoes from Jersey

British demand for fresh potatoes produced on the island of Jersey has experienced an increase of 250%.
The good weather conditions have resulted in high production and arrived earlier on market. Finally, the royal wedding that just took place in London has boosted demand for new potatoes from Jersey. A buyer from Tesco recognizes that demand throughout the country has increased of 250% from last year.
A new variety, Pearl, and the increase of cultivated areas have increased production. Producers of the island have increased their production by 5 such as the Jersey Royal Company, which produced 250 tons last year, and saw its production go up to 1,300 tons this year.
The 2011 year will break all records for producers of potatoes on the island of Jersey.
