Italy
Thursday 24 April 2008
At the first event about the produce supply chain and the relation with supermarkets organized by Sammogroup in collaboration with SACMI on 4th of April, technological investments were confirmed to be a fundamental mean to keep competitiveness.
“Sammeet”, the first workshop organized by Sammogroup in collaboration with SACMI Imola, registered good attendance, with more than 150 dealers attending the event. They did represent both fruit and vegetables stations and supermarkets coming from Europe and other Countries.
The debate about “Technologies: cost or added value for the produce system?”, held in the morning at Gallia Hotel in Milano Marittima, begun with the intervention of Omar Papi, Sammogroup managing director, followed by Dario Beltrandi, director of SACMI automation and control systems division, and prof. Roberto Della Casa, moderator of the debate.
The first session of the workshop involved representatives of fruit and vegetable production, such as Gianni Amidei of Agrintesa, Giancarlo Ivo Battistini of Apofruit Italia, Giampaolo Nasi of Campofrigo, Mauro Battistini of Orogel Fresco and the Spanish José Maria Morote of Molinense Producciones Naturales and José Rodriguez Carrascal of Five Senses Group. Everybody confirmed the importance of supplying customers with high-quality fruit and vegetables and to contain production costs, which are becoming higher and higher.
“Quality is made in the Country by producers - said Giancarlo Battistini of Apofruit - but we need new technologies to save it. Moreover, where labour costs are high, we need to increase the product value”. “However, a synergic relation with supermarkets is necessary”, stressed Mauro Battistini of Orogel.
