Growth in sales of organic products

Sales of organic fruit and vegetables rose 11.8% while U.S. market has registered only 1% growth of conventional food sales.
In United States, sales of organic fruit and vegetables rose of 11.8% in a market where all organic food grew by 7.7%, while conventional foods only recorded 1% increase.
The top performers were fruits and vegetables (39.7 % of total organic food value, and nearly 12 % of all US fruit and vegetable sales), which notched up an 11.8 % rise in sales to nearly $10.6bn in 2010.
Organic food sales now account for 4 % of total food sales in the US, according to the OTA.
