Third lemon harvest forecast 2021/2022

According to the third lemon harvest estimate for the 2021/2022 season, carried out by the Lemon and Grapefruit Interprofessional Association of Spain (AILIMPO), at the end of the harvest a total of 990.000 tons will be reached: 800.000 tons referring to the Fino variety and 190.000 tons to the Verna.

Worth mentioning that Spain is positioned as the second country in the world ranking in terms of fruit processing (juices, essential oil, dehydrated peel), and it is projected that 20%-25% of this harvest will be used for said activity.

According to Alimpo, the GlobalGAP and GRASP certificates are main elements this season. The purpose is to differentiate the Spanish lemon and promote sustainable production under the economic, environmental and social approach.
