Fyffes introduced Hass avocado from own plantation in Colombia, part of new exotic range

Founded more than 130 years ago, Fyffes Limited is one of the leading international importer and distributor of tropical produce and mushrooms with headquarters in Dublin, Ireland. After introducing exotic range at Fruit Attraction in Madrid 2019, Fyffes brought freshly delivered Hass avocados from own plantation in Colombia to Fruit Logistica in Berlin 2020. Hass avocados are part of Fyffes’s exotic range.

“Exotic range includes baby and red bananas, plantain, cassava and now hass avocado,” – explains Marketing Manager Michaela Schneider and adds: “Together with retail partners our aim is to lift up the whole category and bring added value.”

Mrs. Schneider highlights that Fyffes focuses on sustainability. “Last year we have launched the first climate neutral conventional fair trade bananas together with our partner-retailer PLUS (the Netherlands).” The companies introduced new blockchain technology to provide traceability. Now consumers can know exactly where bananas come from and how they have arrived on the PLUS shelves.  “This is one example of what is possible, when you have a partnership.”

Michaela sums up that Fyffes is open for new retail partners worldwide to work on more sustainable initiatives in 2020.
