Carrefour to develop its discount chains

Ed, Carrefour's discount subsidiary, has announced promising results. With a turnover of EUR 1,694 billion, that is to say a 14,6% rise and 459 selling points in France (including 40 new ones), Ed has recorded the group's best results in the country in 2001. Carrefour also plans to develop its other discount chain, Dia, in China. 300 to 500 selling points should be operating within 2005 in Southern China.
