Peruvian potato price will triple in the coming months

The price of potatoes in Peru will rise in the coming months due to lower production, and the highest peak will be reached in October, informed the president of the Rural Potato Corporation, Freddy García.

 

He specified that the price will double or triple, depending on the varieties.

 

The yellow potato will reach an average of S/ 8 per kilo (2.06 euros). The prices of other varieties such as native potatoes, huamantanga potato, huayro potato and white potato will also increase. The white potato, which is the most commercial, would reach an average of S/ 3.50 to S/ 4.00 (from 0.77 to 1.03 euros).

 

According to the president, the low production is due to the government's inability to take adequate measures to support the agricultural sector.
