Florida citrus hit by effects of hurricanes

This year's Florida orange crop is estimated at 151 million boxes, the lowest since 1989 when the state was hit by a big freeze.
The low estimates, 38 percent down on last year's crop, reveal the extent of the damage caused by the series of hurricanes that hit the state last year.
The grapefruit crop estimate of 13 million boxes is the lowest since the 1935-36 season and 68 percent below the 40.9 million boxes harvested in 2003-04. The hurricanes accounted for almost all that loss.
The estimated tangerine crop is down 31.5 percent from last season's crop of 6.5 million boxes.
