Ministerial meeting in view of 5th World Water Forum

Iran and Iraq will meet this week at the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari (IAMB), southern Italy, to try to develop and strengthen a common management policy for water resources.
It is a preparatory meeting for the fifth World Water Forum that will take place in Istanbul next March. The summit will aim at finding actions against climate changes’ effects and for Mediterranean food safety.
The meeting in Bari will also be joined by representatives of UNDP (United Nations Development Programme), FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization), UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), IFAD (International Fund for Agricultural Development).
Such organization along with the MAIB have the task of fixing development actions for sustainable agriculture based on water availability in the Middle East, regardless of geographical boundaries and respecting of cultural identities.
