After the ban on single-use plastic bags, the New Zealand government plans to take steps to ban non-compostable stickers on fruits as well.
The fight against plastic will intensify in New Zealand. Following the successful ban on single-use plastic bags, the government is planning further measures to ban cutlery, cotton swabs and sticky labels on fruit in the near future. Stressing not to be against all plastic, only against non-recyclable single-use plastic.
According to polls, an overwhelming majority (82%) of New Zealanders support measures to restrict the use of single-use plastics.
