Trade surplus for the first time in 5 years

The difference between imports and exports of food products is in surplus for the 1st time since 2009 .    

According to the Ministry of Agriculture in January 2015 food exports reached $ 344.8 million DT while imports totaled $ 193.7 million DT . A surplus of 151 million dinars , while in January 2014 the country had a deficit of 157.7 million dinars.   

This improvement is to be credited , according to the Ministry of Agriculture, to olive oil and dates. The country exported 37,000 tons of olive oil to a value of 213 million dinars ( 22.6 million just last year) . The values ??of dates exports grew by 51% , those of citrus + 5 % and fruit and vegetables of 31% .
