No. 1 producer and exporter, China, is expecting a good crop of garlic that will end a crazy year of speculation.
After a crazy year, the price of garlic in China should now return to normal with the expected good harvest.
Professionals foresee a price drop of 20-30% from June when the first harvest arrives. An increase from 25 to 30% in growing areas added to favorable weather should lead to a
large harvest.
It remains to be seen what tonnage will be achieved with some predicting a record crop. Stocks are the lowest anywhere in the country, so it will take some time for this new crop to replenish exports.
