Over the past 3 years, Mexican raspberry production has grown at a rate of 27.4% per year, from 35 589 tons to 73 556 tons in 2016.
SAGARPA, the Secretariat of Agriculture, based on the ISAP statistics, announced that the production of raspberries in 2016 totaled 75 556 tons. This is a doubling from the 35,589 tons produced in 2014 and 38.5% more than the 53,101 tons produced in 2015. The average annual growth rate is 27.4%.
In Mexico, 8 states and regions produce raspberries: Baja California, Colima, Ciudad de México, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Estado de México, Michoacán, Puebla. The 3 main ones (Jalisco, Baja California, Michoacán) provide 99.8% of the national production.
Fresh raspberries were exported to about 20 countries, led by the United States, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong and Canada.
The year started well with a first quarter that generated revenues of $ 384.7 million, an increase that would raise the annual growth rate to 33%.
