Egyptian exports return to Europe
MD
The European Union has begun to partially lift the import ban for Egyptian vegetables in Europe.
Egyptian exports of certain fresh or frozen vegetables, such as green beans and peas, can now resume, but the ban on seeds remains in place until October 31.
The European decision follows a series of checks made by the Food and Veterinary Office (FVO) in Egypt. No deficiencies were detected in vegetable facilities.
Since last July the EU banned imports of Egyptian vegetables after the a shipment of fenugreek seeds carried E. coli, that caused 46 deaths in Europe.
