Russia will import 100 000 tonnes of tomatoes each year from Turkey.
Good news for Turkish professionals in the tomato sector, Russia will double its import quota for tomatoes from Turkey.
The Turkish Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, in Berlin at a conference for agriculture ministers, announced that he had negotiated with his Russian counterpart.
"We increased our quota from 50,000 tonnes to 100,000 tonnes of tomatoes," said Bekir Pakdemirli, Turkey's Minister of Agriculture and Forestry.
Russia, the main market for tomatoes in Turkey, suspended imports in January 2016 and lifted the ban in November 2017, agreeing to import up to 50,000 tonnes of Turkish tomatoes per year.
