Morocco, like many other countries, suffered the negative effects of the COVID-19 crisis. If for certain sectors exports fell sharply, for agricultural products exports increased.
According to figures from the Ministry of Agriculture, exports of market garden produce reached 1.07 million tonnes until May 9, 2020. A growth of around 6% compared to the previous season.
Among the most exported products are tomatoes (514,000 tonnes), green beans (112,000 tonnes), watermelons (104,400 tonnes), melons (15,000 tonnes), red fruits (82,500 tonnes).
These results are far from the potential hoped for by Moroccan professionals, who deplore logistics and transport deemed insufficient.
