Belarus: vegetables go up in prices

In November , 2008, prices for food products in Belarus increased by 1.8 %, compared to October, and by 13.3 %, compared to December of 2007, reported BELTA.
Price increase was recorded mainly in fresh vegetables segment.
Thus, prices for cucumbers increased by 20.2 %, pepper – by 11.4 %, tomatoes - by 9.6 %.
At the same time, the most insignificant rise in prices was observed in the segments of cabbage and potatoes – by 3.7 % and 1 % respectively.
On average, in November, prices for vegetables increased by 8,8 %.
However, prices for carrot decreased by 3.3 %, for onion – by 2.6 %.
Significant price decrease was observed in such segments as bananas, apples and citrus – by 2.4 %, 1.8 % and 1.7 % respectively. At the same time, prices for grapes increased by 4.1 %.
