Peruvian researchers develop new potato variety

In 2023, the Huánuco Regional Directorate of Agriculture will present a new potato variety “Tarikay”.

 

This new variety stands out for its high genetic quality, blight resistance, heat and drought tolerance, and productivity of 25-30 tons per hectare.

 

Its vegetative period is from 90 to 150 days, it adapts from 200 to 3.500 meters above sea level, it bears fruits of good size, texture and yellow pulp.

 

Alejandro Mendoza Aguilar, potato researcher, and Sandro Llanos Isidroel, director of the Huánuco Agrarian Agency, with his technical team, visited the demonstration plots installed 3 months ago and reported that they are in full bloom.
