Between January and August 2022, Spain's fresh fruit and vegetable exports decreased by 7% in volume compared to the same period in 2021 (8.3 million tons) and grew 3% in value, totaling 10,975 million euros, according to data of the Department of Customs and Special Taxes of the Tax Agency.
The export of vegetables from January to August of the current year fell by 5.5% in volume (3.5 million tons), and increased by 8.5% in value (4,745 million euros).
Fruits showed a decrease of 8% in export volume (4.7 million euros) and the value decreased by 1%, (6,229 million euros). The drop in stone fruit was observed, mainly due to the decrease in production due to poor weather conditions in April, particularly in Aragon and Catalonia.
Regarding the peach, the volume exported fell by 28.5% (100,557 T) and the value fell by 11%, (332 million euros). The exported volume of nectarine fell by 22.5% in volume (215,850 T) and 7% in value (370 million euros).
The import of fruits and vegetables in that period increased 5.5% in volume (2.4 million T), and 11% in value (2,404 million euros).
Vegetable imports increased by 13.6% in volume (1.1 million T) and 27% in value (714 million euros) and fruit imports increased 0.4% in volume (1.3 million T) and 5% in value (1.890 million euros). euros).
