France: Force Sud 23,000 tons of Charentais melons

The group produces and markets more than 23,000 tons of charentais melons for the French and European markets. It became one the 2 leading suppliers of the premium variety, by integration of various family producers and a large supply calendar. “We represent about 15% of the French production of organic melons said Jérôme Jausseran, Force Sud chairman. The melons are marketed from February until September under various brands: Force Sud, Melon Cavaillon, Goût du Sud, Le Rouge Gorge, as well as “Label Rouge” certification of quality for premium melons from France.  The group starts the season with its own early crops established in Morocco ( 200haDakhla and Marrakech), Spain (100ha Cartagena) and Southern France (700 to 800ha in Herault and Vaucluse provinces). The group also produces in France 4,000 tons of organic melons, 450 tons of strawberries, 2500 tons of mini-watermelons and 2 million pieces of lettuces.
