The sector of banana weakened

Costa Rica expects 87 million banana boxes in 2003, as in 2002 but with decreasing income since a few years. The area of the Caribbean was affected by strong rains and the banana plantations still suffer from the consequences of the floods. Costa Rica is the second exporting banana country in the world behind Ecuador.
