Tahiti lime exports in Brazil: record in 2024, uncertainty in 2025

In the local market, the price of Tahitian lime started high but dropped at the end of February.
Brazil's Tahiti lime exports reached a record high in 2024 and continued performing well in January 2025. According to a Brazilian foreign trade data platform, 17,150 tons were shipped, marking an 18.1% increase compared to January of the previous year. Revenue also grew by 13.4%, reaching $14.8 million.
For February, exports are expected to decline due to smaller fruit sizes and tougher skin. Additionally, the spread of citrus canker, a disease that thrives in warm and humid conditions, poses a risk to producers.
In the domestic market, Tahiti lime prices started high but dropped by late February. Last week (February 17–21), a 27.2 kg box was sold for $5.11 (26.59 R$), a 8.94% decrease from the previous week. This price drop is due to the lower fruit quality, which reduces exports and increases local supply.
Meanwhile, Pera orange prices saw a slight increase. A 40.8 kg box reached $19.62 (101.83 R$), reflecting a 0.88% rise from the previous week.
Despite the challenges, Tahiti lime exports remain a strong sector for Brazil's agribusiness.
