"The great demand of BIO Val Venosta branded apples has encouraged since a few years already VI.P (the Producers organization from South Tyrol) to reconsider its cultivation plans for the medium term with the first remarkable results already from campaign 2007", product manager Gerhard Eberhöfer explained. "For the 2007 crop we forecast an increase by 50% of organic apples volumes: 15.300 tons expected against the 9.650 in 2006. This is a very important achievement for VI.P, bringing our percentage of organic apples to 6% over the total producing area. The Golden Delicious is confirmed the main cultivated variety in South Tyrol - with 50% share of organic growing -our organic supply will be expanded to red and bi-coloured varieties such as Gala, Pinova, Braeburn and Topaz".
"Such results are part of wider production programme of Organics, aiming at making of the BIO Val Venosta brand the n°1 supplier of organic apples in Europe. And this is not a too distanced goal - Eberhöfer continues - if one considers that Val Venosta has great values in terms of product quality and customer services to be considered the best apple.
