EU citrus market imports decline since 2022

Both lemons orange and grapefruit imports tend to decrease and fluctuate with the EU harvest, while small citruses imports show a stable growing trend since 2016.
Easy peelers may be soon the major import category, as shown by latest EU citrus dashboard released in August, giving a perspective of Eu citrus trade over the last 10 seasons. Their imports have been fluctuating between 500,000 tons last 3 years, against 300,000 tons average during the previous 10 years. At the same time orange imports reached bellow 600,000 tons for the first time during last 2025/2026 season, while the average import volumes over the 10 years before are closer to 900,000 tons. Turkey and Morocco are the first suppliers of easy peelers, with 25 and 23% market share each.
Stagnant production at 10,5 million tons
EU production average reached 10,591,000 tons over the last 5 years, slightly bellow the 15 years average of 10,932. Spain represented 54% of the harvest in 2025 with 5,574 tons, followed by Italy 30% and Greece 10,5%.
