Watermelons and melons Agroponiente available until September

Extension of the marketing period of watermelons and melons of Agroponiente.

Agroponiente group companies, based in the Almeria region, began harvesting watermelons and melons. This year, to meet the needs of customers, the marketing of products will extend until September due to a change in the structure of production between cultures under plastic and outdoor crops.

Agroponiente produced last year 28.6 million pounds of watermelons (13.6% of its total production volume) and 11 million pounds of melons (5%). These volumes are primarily intended for export, 96% of the production of watermelons and 64% of the production of melons.

Germany is the main destination, followed by the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the Scandinavian countries.
