Imports of mangoes: significant growth that will continue to rise

In just over 10 years the United States has significantly increased its imports of mangoes, in volume (+ 87%) and in value (+ 120%). Almost all US imports, 98%, come from 6 supplier countries.
Over the past 3 years, according to NMB (National Mango Board) data, almost all US imports, or 98%, came from 6 countries. Mexico supplied 66.48% of the volumes, Peru 10.48%, Ecuador 11.38%, Brazil 6.67%, Guatemala 3.33% and Haiti 1.66%.
For the current season, NMB estimates that the total volume of mangoes imported from week 45 (2019) to week 6 (2020) is expected to increase by 8% over the previous year. The total volume from Brazil is expected to reach + 20% and that from Peru + 8%.
In Brazil the mango season started in August and will last until the 1st week of December with an estimated harvest of about 9.5 million boxes (8.8 lb = 4 kg). In Ecuador the season started the third week of September and will last until the second week of January, the estimate is 12 million boxes (8.8 lb = 4 kg). In Peru the season started the third week of October and will continue until the 4th week of March, the estimate is 13 million boxes (8.8 lb = 4 kg).
