Peru’s fresh asparagus exports drop sharply in early 2026

Peru’s fresh asparagus exports recorded a sharp decline in the opening months of 2026, according to Agrodata.
Between January and February, shipments totalled US$39.4 million and 10 million kilos, compared with US$42.9 million and 11.2 million kilos in the same period of 2025. The data indicates a 41% fall in export value and a 44% drop in volume compared with the previous year.
Despite the decline in shipments, the average export price increased to US$3.94 per kilo, up 6% from US$3.71/kg recorded in 2025.
In January 2026 alone, Peru exported US$32.8 million worth of fresh asparagus, equivalent to 8.4 million kilos, at an average price of US$3.90/kg. February exports reached US$6.6 million and 1.59 million kilos, with a higher average price of US$4.14/kg.
The United States remained the dominant destination, accounting for 53% of total exports with purchases valued at US$20.7 million.
The Netherlands ranked second with US$6.65 million (17%), followed by Spain with US$5.36 million (14%). Other key markets included the United Kingdom with US$3.31 million (8%), Germany with US$777,688 (2%), while other destinations collectively represented 7% of exports.
