A Loan For New Citrus Plantation in Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe

Guruve Rural District Council is expecting to earn more than US $1 billion from its citrus plantation this season. The council's chief executive Mr Tinos Marisa said the council was in partnership with Interfresh. He applauded the move by Government to allocate the council the citrus plantation saying this would enable council to service the district effectively from its own coffers.
Council was allocated the citrus farm under the land reform programme two years ago but the fixed exchange rate was negatively impacting on the project. The council received a loan of US $2 million from the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe last year and had already repaid the loan. He also said council wanted rates paid by farmers to be reviewed and to be economic.
