Statement on garlic imports in 2008

According to figures published by the Polish Analytical Centre of Customs Administration ,(CAAC) , garlic imports on the Polish market reached 6700 tons in 2008, representing in value: 4.9 million euro.
The average price reported was 0.74 €/kg, in decrease of 0.20 € in comparison to last year figures.
Most imports have been made from China: 5.400 tons for a value of 3,6 millions euros. Average price of Chinese Garlic was 0,67 €/kg.
The second supplyer was Egypt with 400 tons and 300.000 €. Average price reached 0.70 €/kg.
