According to a study conducted by SÖL-Survey in February 2001, "the percentage of 'organic' in the global food production, estimated at 1-3%, should reach 15% within 2005. The surface dedicated to organic farming in the world would currently reach 16 million hectares : 48,51% in Oceania, 23,58% in Europe, 20,02% in South America, 7,42% in Northern America, 0,33% in Asia and 0,14% in Africa.
