Production and export of berries in Chile

According to the President of Blueberries of Chile, the cultivation of these berries in Chile started 15 years ago and until this date, there are 800 producers with approximately 50 to 200 hectares plots of planted berries.
Production and export of berries is increasing constantly( about 30% per year) and this means that in season 2006-07, shipments of berries from Chile will exceed 21 million kgs.
Global area of berries cultivation in Chile is about 7.000 hectares.
Main destination of Chilean berry export are: China, South Corea, India, Brazil and Colombia.
