Live from Fruit Attraction : BASF showcases new products

The seed company BASF participated in Fruit Attraction 2021 in Madrid, Spain, with its slogan ‘Vegetables People Love’ which highlights that even in the most difficult times of pandemic, the entire agrifood value chain, from farmers to distributors, has continued to work with the clear objective to feed the world.
Innovation has also continued, and in the case of BASF VS this has resulted in the RedNoir™ tomato and Sunup™ melon, its new products presented at Fruit Attraction.
According to Francisco Solera, Iberia Country Sales Manager, BASF VS, RedNoir™ is a round-shaped, almost spherical tomato with black skin. On the inside, it is a variety without juice: “When you cut it, it is all flesh” comments Solera. High nutrient content, richness in antioxidants and umami flavour, the fifth taste, make it an exclusive one.
With Sunup™ melon, BASF achieved year-round product availability. This melon has the same netting and sutures as cantaloupe variety, but the rind colour is different. While ripening, the Sunup™ melons change their colour from pale yellow to golden. This melon can be cultivated in Morocco, Senegal, Brazil and Honduras, and thus guaranteeing constant supply.
At Fruit Attraction, BASF also put in the spotlight crops such as watermelon, lettuce, cucumber, spinach, and artichoke for visitors. With these new proposals, the company has proven its commitment to the industry without losing sight of its mission in society, which is nothing but feeding the world in a sustainable, healthy and fun way.
