Hard snow falls in March have caused growth of prices for apples in Ukraine
Bad weather conditions at the end of March have resulted in hard traffic on the roads of central and western parts of Ukraine.
Nevertheless this period has been quite favorable for apples trade within inside fruit market.
Apples producers notify that local consumers demand for apples is considered to be much higher now if you compare it to the figures before hard snowfalls. This situation allowed local farmers to increase prices for apples up to 0,5 – 0,8 EUROkg (depends on the products quality and size).
There has been observed prices growth for imported apples as well. The main reason of the costs increasing (0,75 – 0,97 EUROkg) is logistic problem caused by snow falls. However It hasn’t prevented growth of local consumers demand for imported apples.
