Syria has considerably increased the demand for fruits and vegetables from Turkey.
Turkey exported 35,000 tons of fruits and vegetables in Syria in 2012, while in 2011 only 500 tons had been exported. As for citrus, export volumes in 2012 were 10,000 tons against 1,000 tons in 2011. Currently, Syria occupies the 18th place among the countries importing fruit and vegetables from Turkey.
The upward trend continued in January and February 2013, despite the problems of logistics and transport related to the situation in Syria.
