Walnuts from Grenoble : the harvest has just begun

This year Walnuts are fleshy with more than 70% greater than 30mm caliber .

Harvesting of AOP walnuts just started September 28 . The harvest date is set by the prefecture. It guarantees a certain maturity throughout the appellation. The production is estimated at 12 000 tonnes, well above last year's (about 9000 tonnes).

The geographical area of Walnut covers 261 towns on three departments ( Isére , Drome, Savoie) . This territory comprises nearly 7000 hectares of orchards .
