Examining the current state and practices in Andalusian greenhouses.
The Agricultural and Fisheries Information Service of the Junta de Andalucía published a report on the state of greenhouse crops in the region during the week of December 2-8, highlighting the progress in their development.
Almeria
Bell pepper: Plants show good vegetative development and fruit set. In some greenhouses a double roof has been installed to increase the temperature. Harvesting of all varieties continues, deciding to cut or keep the fruit on the plant depending on market prices.
Tomato: Harvesting is in full swing, with a concentration of supply in some cases. Thinning and staking are still being carried out.
Eggplant: Plantings are showing good development and fruit set. Crops are in different stages, from the beginning of harvesting to the earliest ones in full production.
Zucchini: Plantations are observed in all stages of development. Some are finishing their cycle and, after grubbing, zucchini are replanted, using thermal blanket in the early stages to ensure good insulation.
Cucumber: Some plantations have completed their cycle and, after grubbing, are prepared for new crops of cucumber or other vegetables. Greenhouses with recent plantations usually have a double cover and thermal blanket to protect from the cold and accelerate growth.
Huelva
Strawberry: The predominant phenological stage is the appearance of the first flower buds, with the first fruits being observed in potted or early transplanted plantations.
