The ports of Antwerp (Antwerp) and Zeebrugge decided last year to unite. During this 1st year, the port of Antwerp-Bruges has established itself more and more as a crucial link in the international logistics chain.
The 2 ports complement each other. The port of Antwerp (Antwerp) was at its limit in terms of container capacity last year, companies were able to divert to the Zeebrugge platform for their container handling. Thus, container volumes can now be distributed over 2 platforms, a considerable advantage for logistics players.
Processes and systems have been continuously evaluated in the transition phase but "after a year, we are only one port", underlined Jacques Vandermeiren, CEO of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges.
