Peru to open up 5 new international markets for table grapes
VU
Peru's grape industry continues to expand its reach across the globe, with exports currently reaching 53 countries and negotiations underway to add five more. The National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa) is currently negotiating with Israel, the Philippines, Australia, Chile, and South Africa to establish protocols for grape exports.
In 2022, grape exports from Peru increased by 8.9%, making it the second most exported agricultural product in the country, thus solidifying it as a leading global exporter of said fruit. The grapes are cultivated in regions such as Ica, Lambayeque, Piura, and La Libertad, and transported via sea to international markets.
Peru recently achieved access to Japan and opened up a potential market of 125 million consumers for Peruvian grapes.
As the grape industry in Peru continues to grow and expand its global reach, it remains a valuable contributor to the country's agricultural sector and economy.
