Ghana's products allowed to enter the EU market

After a two-year ban, imports of vegetables from Ghana have been re-authorized in the EU since 1 January 2018.
The ban came in October 2015 after the detection of pests and hit chillies, pumpkins and squash as well as aubergines.
Much work has been done in Ghana to improve crop methods and phytosanitary systems. After studies and inspections, the EU Commission's Health and Food Safety Service has agreed on compliance with phytosanitary regulations.
With the re-opening of the European market, Ghana hopes to quickly reach a turnover of 15 million USD for these exports.
