AILIMPO publishes 2025 Citrus Treatment Manual with detailed pesticide and post-harvest guidance
VU
An updated technical reference has been released for the citrus sector, reflecting regulatory changes and current production needs ahead of the new season.
AILIMPO has released the 19th edition of its Manual of Active Ingredients and Treatment Recommendations for Citrus (pre- and post-harvest). The new manual provides growers and operators with up-to-date, actionable guidance on pest, disease and post-harvest management for citrus crops.
The updated manual includes specific treatment recommendations keyed to the pest or disease being controlled. For each entry, it lists:
-Active ingredient used in treatment.
-Commercial products authorised in Spain, including those registered with the Ministry of Agriculture (MAPA).
-Registration numbers for traceability.
-Application doses appropriate to crop and timing.
-Safety intervals — days required between treatment and harvest.
-Observations on how and when to apply.
-Maximum residue limits (MRLs) allowed in both the European Union and the United States.
The manual also includes a section on pesticide-free post-harvest treatments, offering options for storage and handling that do not rely on conventional pesticides. This section is intended to support operators seeking alternatives for organic or low-residue production.
Structured for quick field reference, the guide lets users search either by the type of pest or disease or by active ingredient — making it easier to identify suitable control options for specific problems. It covers common citrus pests and diseases as well as recommended interventions applicable across lemon, orange, mandarin and grapefruit crops.
AILIMPO emphasises that the manual reflects current legal requirements and market demands, helping ensure that treatments used in Spain remain compliant with safety regulations at home and abroad. The organisation says the guide is a core tool in its annual plan to support food safety and plant health in the citrus sector.
