Increase by 31.5% in 5 years for onion exports

Onion exports have a remarkable annual growth rate.
Over the past 5 years, Peru's onion exports have increased by 31.5% in value, according to ComexPerú data.
ComexPerú, Peru's foreign trade agency, said exports of onions totaled USD 54 million in 2012, USD 63 million in 2013, USD 66 million in 2014, USD 63 million in 2015 and USD 71 million in 2016 .
Exports of onions recorded a remarkable growth rate of about 6.8% per year, except for the decline in 2015. The main destinations for Peru's onions in 2016 were the United States (USD 48.3 million) and Colombia (USD 10.4 million) received the majority of the total shipped.
By 2016 Peru's onion production has decreased by about 7.24% but this has not stopped exports from rising since 2015.
