Peru and Guatemala took a significant step in their commercial relationship with the signing of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The President of Peru, Dina Boluarte, highlighted that this agreement opens a new phase of development and cooperation between the two countries.
Boluarte pointed out that trade between the two countries has grown, reaching $250 million in 2024, representing a 20.5% increase over the previous year. With the FTA, Guatemala becomes Peru's second-largest trading partner in Central America.
The agreement will particularly benefit fruit and vegetable producers in both countries, especially micro and small businesses.
