Fruits and vegetables help to prevent memory loss!
FJ
New quality discovery for fruits and vegetables: they can help to prevent memory loss of patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
Researchers at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, San Diego California, discovered that a particular flavonoid, known as the "fisetin" present in many fruits and vegetables can help prevent memory loss of patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease.
The "fisetin" operates by neural pathway, activates the process of memory formation, forms strong links between neurons and allows for better memory retention. The study has been published in the journal "Aging Cell", the next step is to test if fisetin can reverse memory decline after the onset of the disease.
The fisetin is found in a number of fruits and vegetables, particularly in: strawberries, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, apples, oranges, grapes, peaches, persimmons, kiwis.
