Argentina’s vegetable exports reach 22-year high

Growth across several product categories strengthened the sector’s performance in international markets.
Argentina generated USD 265 million from vegetable exports during the first four months of 2026, the highest value recorded for the period in 22 years.
Export revenue increased by 17% compared with the same period of 2025, while shipment volume rose by 12% to 269,351 tonnes, according to data from Argentina’s National Institute of Statistics and Censuses, INDEC.
Frozen potato products were the largest export category by value. Shipments exceeded USD 110 million, up 5% year on year and setting a record for the first four months of a year.
Fresh garlic exports increased by 21% to USD 105 million. Together, garlic and frozen potato products accounted for most of Argentina’s vegetable export earnings during the period.
Vegetable seeds recorded the strongest percentage growth. Their export value climbed by 84% to USD 22.8 million, the highest level registered since 2004.
Fresh onion exports also performed strongly, rising by 72% to USD 14 million.
Several smaller categories reported solid gains. Export revenue from pumpkins and squash increased by 57%, while fresh or refrigerated carrots and turnips rose by 55%. Fresh or refrigerated potato exports grew by 7%.
Sweet potatoes returned to international markets after several four-month periods without recorded exports. Shipments reached 499 tonnes worth USD 188,000, setting the category’s highest figures for both volume and value since 2004.
Brazil remained the main destination for Argentina’s vegetable exports. Other important markets included the United States, Chile, the Netherlands, Uruguay, Paraguay and Spain.
