Increase for avocado production

The production sector of avocados expect volume growth for 2016/17.

Production is estimated at 170 000 tonnes for the 2015/16 campaign and should reach 190 000 tonnes in 2016/17. Strong international demand strengthens the sector to increase its acreage which will mechanically advance production.

Regarding exports, Europe is still the main destination with 71.3% of the volumes received. The United States receive 11.1% in Asia and 8.3%. But growth in Asia demand surged, reaching a rate of + 300% compared to the previous season.
