The future of Indian demand + 246 % for fruits and + 183 % for vegetables

An Australian study provides an explosion in demand for food in India by 2050. ABARES , the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics , published its study on the analysis of food demand from India in 2050.
The growth rate of the population combined with economic growth increasing income levels and therefore the diversification of diets will cause a surge in demand .The study evaluates to + 246 % growth in the consumption of fruits, to + 183 % growth in the consumption of vegetables and + 137% growth in the consumption of dairy products.
Although India boosts its agricultural production , imports will continue to rise over the coming decades. The study predicts that by 2050 vegetable imports could reach USD 47 billion , fruit imports USD 58 billion , imports of dairy products USD 13 billion and imports of wheat USD 15 billion.
