Positive forecast for the mango season in Mexico, Guatemala, and Haiti

The National Mango Board (NMB) is an agriculture promotion group that focuses on promotion and research for U.S. and imported fresh mangos.
According to their latest mango crop report published on May 21, current mango export leaders are Mexico, (mainly Chiapas, Oaxaca & Michoacán regions), Guatemala, and Haiti.
Total export volume on week 20 was around 2.572.666 boxes, of which 2.429.475 boxes were supplied by Mexico and 143.191 boxes by Guatemala. The exported volume of Haiti was not performed.
During the same week last year, the volume shipped from Mexico was 2.876.179 boxes for a total of 22.095.773 boxes.
Guatemala has shipped 148.544 boxes for a total of 2.792.226 boxes, and Haiti has shipped 179.654 boxes for a total of 761.273 boxes.
Varieties
Mexico’s main varieties are Tommy Atkins (40 %), Ataulfo / Honey (27 %), Kent (19 %), Keitt (11 %) and others (3 %).
Guatemala’s main varieties are Tommy Atkins (97 %), Ataulfo / Honey (2 %) and others (1 %).
Haiti’s main variety is Madame Francis (100 %).
Projections
The 2021 Mexican season is expected to be about +6 % higher year-over-year, totaling approximately 83 million boxes, meanwhile the Guatemalan +46 %, with about 4.2 million boxes, and the Haitian +8 %, with 2.7 million boxes.
