China doubles import tariff on fresh cranberries

The move follows China’s decision to end temporary tariff reductions and revert to standard MFN rates.
China has officially increased its import tariffs on cranberries as of 1 January 2026, raising costs for exporters supplying the Chinese market.
Under the updated Most-Favoured-Nation (MFN) tariff schedule, the duty on fresh cranberries (HS 08104000) has doubled from 15% to 30%, while the tariff on dried cranberries (HS 08134090) has increased from 15% to 25%.
The changes follow China’s decision to remove previously applied temporary reduced tariff rates and return to its standard MFN levels. The new tariff structure was published by China’s Ministry of Finance and State Council Tariff Commission in late December 2025 and took effect at the start of the year.
For cranberry exporters, the higher duties are expected to impact pricing, margins, and competitiveness in the Chinese market, which has been a growing destination for imported berries in recent years.
